Umami Butternut Squash Pasta


Ingredients:
6 each. slices bacon, diced
4 each. garlic cloves, peeled and minced
2 each. Matiz Wild Sardines in Lemon, minced
2 cups. jarred butternut squash pasta sauce
1 pkg. mafaldine pasta, cooked according to the instructions on the package
Fresh basil, grated parmesan, and crushed red pepper flakes, for finishing and garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the bacon, and cook until crisp, about 5 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet using a slotted spoon and set aside on paper towels to drain.
2. Add the garlic and minced sardines to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute.
3. Add the jarred pasta sauce to the skillet and whisk to combine with the garlic and sardines. Bring to a simmer.
4. Once simmering, add the cooked pasta noodles, toss to coat in the sauce, and cook for 1 minute or until the noodles have reheated.
5. To serve, divide the pasta between plates and top with the bacon, basil, parmesan, and pepper flakes.
